Eat The Rich

Back to back black comedies about cannibalism and consumerism!

Eating Raoul (1982) d: Paul Bartel

Society (1989) d: Brian Yuzna

Eating Raoul is a delightful comic gem about a prudish couple who discover they can make money by tricking swingers into their home and murdering them. The movie manages to be both slapstick and deadpan.

Be warned before you watch Society. It’s grosssssss. The body horror effects are ludicrously disgusting - it’s honestly helpful that they veer so far into the absurd. It’s also a campy satire of elite society (and it’s not exactly subtle). I’m not convinced it 100% sticks the landing, but it’s almost irrelevant at that point. We live in a society.
